2014 Goals

2014 Goals 1. Make 4 quilts 2. Get the rest of our house painted 3. Get to maintenance and maintain! 4. Read 30+ books 5. Be confident and don't second guess I was able to make quilts for other people this year. I would like to still make 4, but I want at least 2 of them to be quilts that stay here! I already have a quilt for my sister in mind, and I have a pattern that I want to use for one for me for a little throw. And my friends keep procreating, so I'm sure I will have more baby quilts to make. One is already due in April, so there's the first one! We have been here almost a year, so I hope in our second year of home ownership that we can get the rest painted. All we have left are: craft room, guest bath, our bath, laundry room, and closets. Blerg. Surely we can get all of that done in a year! I'm also fine with repainting in the future if we need to. I just want all the nasty yellow GONE. We have other house plans this year too, inc...

2013 Goals Update

Before I post my goals for the next year, I always like to go back and update my goals that I established for last year! 1. Leave work at work (including stress) With my new job, I really think I accomplished this! My new job has been MUCH less stressful than my teaching job. Even when it was a little bit stressful, I was able to separate my work life from my home life. It was really refreshing. I went through a LOT of change at work this year, too. I got hired to basically do admin work as a Library Technician. Then I ended up getting my title changed to Public Services Librarian. And then our Library Director got a new job at the state library, and I took over some of his former duties in an interim role. A couple of months later, the leadership team at my job said they liked how I was doing, and so I became our project lead. It's been an absolute whirlwind of a year at work, and I'm thankful to have handled all the (very positive) change. I love my job so much, and I ho...

2013 Goals

2013 Goals 1. Leave work at work (including stress) 2. Make 4 quilts 3. Hike a 14er 4. Build strength & stay the same size 5. Read 30+ books 6. Don't be lazy Leaving work at work is something that I think I will be able to accomplish in my new job! I haven't posted about it yet, but I am really loving my job. And I do think that I need more balance in my life related to job stress. I made something new almost every month last year. I know there is a lot of change coming in this year, so I wanted to set a goal of just 4 quilts. At least 2 out of the 4 will be baby quilts for friends that are expecting. ;) Hiking a 14er! This is a goal that Jason has, and I am happily jumping in with him. This is our 4th year in Colorado, and it is also going to be there year we hike a 14er. We are going to start little hikes on the weekend to get ready. Building strength and staying the same size. I love having a more consistent fitness routine. I'm working on a body...

2012 Goals Update

Every year, I like to go back to what my goals were for the year and do a little update as to how I did on them. Here's how I did last year! 1. Find the right job for me You know what? I think I may have accomplished this, right at the very end of the year. It was exhausting to have my job be in jeopardy every single year I've been in education, and it's a relief to go to a "normal person job" that will hopefully just be there. I am taking a risk in leaving my school district and taking a leap to a non-profit, but I'm very hopeful that it will pay off. And that I'll be less stressed. The stress was not working for me. 2. Create something new every month I think I almost did this! I don't know if I did something every single month, but I definitely increased my creativity a lot! I made so many things this year. Ruffle pillow , Kindle case , 2nd Kindle case and sunglasses case , mini quilt , Kingsley's bow tie , Kingsley's quilt , maxi dre...

A question a day

Image
I've loved writing for a long time. I've been blogging for 10+ years, but since this is a semi-public way of journaling, I wanted to start something that was just for me. I've never been a "record your day" kind of writer on paper, since it just takes too dang long. I saw a similar journal on someone else's blog, and I knew it would be right for me. This journal has a question at the top of each page, then it has five spaces to write your answer, one for each year. You're supposed to write in it for five years. I have been writing in it every night since the start of the new year, and I love it! You can only fit a sentence or two for each day, so it's a perfect right-before-bed journal. I'm excited to see how my answers will change each year. It's been pretty easy to stick to writing in it this month, so I hope I can keep up with it!

2012 Goals

Here are my goals for this year. I believe them to be reasonable and measurable. I love setting goals at the start of a year! 2012 Goals 1. Find the right job for me 2. Create something new every month 3. Continue decorating the townhouse 4. Exercise regularly and build my strength 5. Read 50+ books 6. Put things away (and turn off lights) 7. Live more disconnected and in the moment So the job. I might have my job cut AGAIN. So whether the right job for me is getting to keep this one or find something else, I'd like to do that. I had really hoped to keep this job for a few more years and maybe go part time in a few years, so we'll see if that works out. I'm just being open to what happens right now. Creativity! I have a sewing machine, and I finally know how to use it. I want to start using my time more constructively, rather than mindlessly surfing the internet or watching television. I'd like to create something every month. For sure I'll tak...

2011 Goals Update

Here were my goals from last year and how I did with accomplishing them! 1. Read 50+ books this year I did this and double! I ended up reading exactly 100 books this year. I decided since I'm a school librarian that I should be allowed to count picture books and graphic novels. It worked out great to get to double my goal! 2. Get to my (next) goal weight I didn't do this. But I did something better. I stopped focusing on the numbers (which makes me get a little obsessive and can make me extreme about things) and started focusing on what makes me feel good and confident. I stopped weighing myself a few months ago, and I'm really happy. I fit in my clothes, and I feel stronger. I might even weigh more than I did, but I feel beautiful and content and that is what matters. 3. Stay employed Done! 4. Memorize 24 scriptures Yeah, I sucked at this. I did like six, and then never thought about it again. My bad. 5. Be positive every day I think I did better at being p...

2011 Goals

I know. It's February. And I'm just posting my goals. But I promise that I made these goals at the start of the new year! I'm even making progress! So here we go. 2011 Goals 1. Read 50+ books this year 2. Get to my (next) goal weight 3. Stay employed 4. Memorize 24 scriptures 5. Be positive every day So here's why these goals are reasonable and achievable. I read 43 books this year. And I've already read 12 in January this year. Because I'm letting myself count picture books and graphic novels. I'm a children's librarian, dangit! I made it to my first goal weight this year, and I have confidence in myself to build on the progress I've already made! It's slow going right now... but I have a whole year to do it. I just need to not backtrack. Employment. Ahhh guys, seriously, I love my job so much. It's unreal that I get to do it every day. But budget cuts are a reality right now, so this goal is just to stay employed... somehow. So I can suppor...

2010 Goals Update

I have new goals for 2011! But before we get into those, why don't we talk about how I did on my goals for last year? We must be accountable! Here are my goals from last year, copied from my old blog I was using at the time. 2010 Goals 1. Read 40+ books this year 2. Finish my Masters degree 3. Make it to my goal weight (finally!) 4. Earn at least $20 a month from kgb 5. Be positive every day 1. I read 43 books in 2010! Huzzah! 2. I finished my Masters degree with a 3.912 GPA. Done. 3. I'm happy to report that I DID make it to my first goal weight. Buuut I have another goal weight lined up. But I am smaller now than I have been in a long time! 4. Yeeeeah I stopped working for kgb after the Super Bowl snafu. I never could find shifts after that because they hired so many new people. I also hated answering the UK questions. I know I lived there for a semester, but seriously, they do speak another language. Especially when texting. 5. Positivity! I don't know if I accomplish...
