Since my birthday fell in the middle of the week this year, we decided to celebrate my birthday the weekend before. I have been wanting to eat at this local restaurant with our friends, ever since I met up with some old coworkers there for happy hour a couple of years ago. We kept talking about it, but it never happened until I decided to make it my birthday brunch! We went to Root Down for a delicious brunch! We had scones and muffins for our appetizer. I had a mimosa and lamb burgers with sweet potato fries. It was all so good. It was super fun to spend the lunch with Jason, Jarrod & Rachel, and Bradon.  After our yummy lunch, we went by Target to get snacks, then we headed to the theater to see The Hobbit! It was super fun to see another LOTR movie for my birthday because the other ones all came out around my birthday as well. It just felt right to see it for my birthday. We were taking a picture for Jason's last grad school assignment (!!!) and I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures of Kingsley. He is definitely my favourite subject! I hope to learn a lot more about photography this summer so I can improve. Just having a DSLR makes my pictures way better than my old point and shoot, but I'd love to be able to take pretty pictures on purpose!

Kingsley loves to sit in the doorway and look out through the glass door. The mailman just came by and saw him through the door. He told him what a handsome boy he is! And what a nice dog too. That was absolutely adorable.

If you don't already know, I love Texas hair . The bigger the better. Jason just thinks it's funny, but whatever! I am blessed with a ridiculous amount of naturally blond hair, so I figure I should just embrace it. My dear friend Celina posted the following video on Facebook last week with a link to a tutorial for no-heat vintage curls. Well, I had to try it. One of the worst things is when it's hot outside and you have to curl your hair. Especially with hot rollers. Ugh. So like she mentioned when she posted it, this would be a great option for summer months when it's just torture to flat iron, curl, or roll your hair. So I tried it last night. Oh man. I'm obviously not as good at it as her, so my curls weren't even and didn't continue all the way around the back. But it totally worked! And when she says vintage curls, she means it. Jason called me Farrah all morning at church. I kinda love it. What do you think?

Decision: I'm going to start wearing my hair in pigtail braids again this summer. Look how cute Katelyn and I were in December 2006!

I've been a bit MIA lately. I even missed my last scripture memory verse. ;( I'm just going to say I'll continue with my last one, John 14:1. I've definitely still been dwelling on it! I have a pretty good reason to be troubled, but I'm not letting it happen. I'm just in a waiting process right now... waiting to find out if the librarian we've been matched up with is going to take another job. Waiting to find out if she's going to take the split. Waiting to hear from other jobs that I've applied for just in case. Waiting to hear if I'm going to get hired for a summer job. Waiting for July so that my parents will come visit me! Waiting for who-knows-when for my sister to come visit. Waiting for next year so Jason can graduate and work full time again. But it's all wonderful. God's timing is perfect, and for once in my life, I am content to wait. Yes, a lot of my life is up in the air. But I have faith that it will be fine. We love our life...

I should've been posting every single day, because I've been on Spring Break this week, and it has been awesome! Here's what I've done: - Cleaned out my closet - Went shopping with Rachel (didn't buy anything) - Took my clothes to Buffalo Exchange (they only took 2 things!) - Finished Season 6 of Bones - Slept in (every day!) - Went to Zumba class at church - Went to have dinner with the youth group - Had waffles with Loren - Went on a walk at Wash Park - Watched the entire first season of Friday Night Lights - Played 10+ hours of Harvest Moon: Animal Parade - Hiked Mount Falcon with Jarrod & Rachel - Ate at SmashBurger & watched Inception - Relaaaaaxed! Spring Break has been fabulous. I feel rested and ready to take on the rest of the school year!

I'm reading a book called Hold Me Closer, Necromancer just because the title made me laugh. The title also made me think of my friend Katelyn and my dad simultaneously. Both due to their love of Tiny Dancer and/or Elton John. The book is pretty good too. ;)

No one get too excited/anxious. We aren't planning on having kids for another couple of years, but I found this video on Vlogbrothers about how to name your baby properly. Hank basically sums up EXACTLY how I feel about names. And I get to have an opinion about naming kids because I work in the public school system, and kids have some freaking ridiculous names. Parents of the future? Please take notes.

Okay, not really, but the Super Bowl is in my hometown this year, and I think that's neat! When I was growing up, we would always watch the Super Bowl with our small group from church. I loved it because while the dads were all kindof into the game... everyone was really into the commercials. Now that I live far away, we call each other during the game to discuss our favourites from the previous commercial break. I love sharing this with my dad! Here's one of my favourites from last year.

We had another day off today! It was technically another "cold day" not a snow day. We only have about 4 inches on the ground, which is not a lot, but it was about -20 outside! Record cold kept the buses from running, so I enjoyed another day at home. Today I spent my relaxing day watching the DVD Commentary on Season 1 of Community. I really hope you've seen this show, especially since I've talked about it a loooot. It makes me laugh so hard, but it's also really heartwarming. Wonderful show! Here's a trailer for one of the most epic episodes of season 1. So amazing! Oh and get this... next week is a Dungeons & Dragons episode. *nerd!*

I've been really into purple lately. The color just makes me so happy! I have been on the lookout for a purple purse, and today I found one on clearance at Target! I adore Target. I got my last purse there (a green one!) so I'm happy to have another one.

I finally got a haircut today, for the first time since the beginning of August. Yikes. I love my hair stylist here. She's really been working on me to embrace what my hair naturally does instead of blow-drying it and flat-ironing it. I got my hair chemically straightened for about 10 years, so there's a lot working against my natural curl. It's been almost 2 years since I last got my hair relaxed, so I'm trying to let that grow out and teach my hair how to curl again. Here's my new haircut from today!

Here are some good things! J, Kingsley, and I just got back from spending a week with my family in Texas. It was AWESOME. We had all my favourite foods... Taco Bueno, Steak & Shake, Whataburger, and Blue Bell Ice Cream. Yes, my stomach hates me for all of it. It was an excellent week, and we were sad to leave! But another good thing... we're back at home! We love it here so much. I just wish it would finally freaking snow. Come on! Also good... Christmas Break!! We had a week in Texas, and now I have a week here at my house to sit on my butt and do whatever I want. My plan is to eat chips and watch a lot of TV. Specifically Season 5 of Dexter. Yesss. Oh and take down the Christmas stuff and get my life back in order... but really, that's secondary to the chips and TV. Do I know any other Doctor Who fans? Do I know anyone who watched the Christmas special on Saturday that was followed by a trailer for series 6? No, I do not. I sat in my parents' bedroom watching all of t...

Today, just because it didn't suck, was infinitely better than every day last week. Huzzah!

I have been super productive today. We went to church, and even made it there early to help with this prayer room thing. Went back home and ate lunch, then I drove up to my school to get some stuff I forgot for an early meeting at another school tomorrow. While I did that, Jason went to the Apple store to get his computer fixed. After that I called my friend Gabriel to wish him a happy birthday, while driving to Tuesday Morning. I got us new pillows, plus I bought gifts for my Secret Santa and my aide (she's fabulous. and I couldn't do my job without her). I went to Walgreens to pick up my prescription and some more shampoo. Then I went to King Soopers and did our grocery shopping and got the last part of my gift for my aide (baking cookies!). Theeeen I finally came home. And did all our laundry (okay, some of it is still in the dryer). Then I did one load of dishes. Then I worked out, and ended up walking 4.5 miles just because I felt great! I have fabulous news! We paid off our washer & dryer today that we bought when we moved here last August! I had a great meeting with my mentor and fellow new librarians! I'm teaching a small math class for advanced sixth graders! I got to network with a math rep from my district! There are 11 school days left until Christmas break! Two of my favourite people are moving here in less than 5 months! I love my school & my job! I'm making Pioneer Woman's Cinnamon Rolls tonight! but most importantly.... JASON GOT INTO GRAD SCHOOL!! HUZZAH!

Today, I'm thankful for an entire day laying on the couch, watching Doctor Who all day. I finally took a personal day, for the first time this year, just to give myself a break. Teachers are terrible about giving ourselves a day off... we get the Teacher Guilt. It's so hard to be out, but I needed to do this for myself. I love my job, but we haven't had a day off since Labor Day. I'm sorry, that's just crazy. And crazy-making. So I let myself take this day off, and I've been watching the end of Series 4 of Doctor Who all day! Oh, and the specials that are between Series 4 & Series 5. Oh man. I LOVE David Tennant as the Doctor. I'm sad I'm watching his last few episodes, but it's nice that he left while he was still doing a good job. He will be missed when I start Series 5 soon!
