Well here's something fabulous... we have a SNOW DAY tomorrow! And they called it even before we left school today! I've started taking the bus to work when it snows, because it's just not worth the stress of driving on ice for me. Well, it's worth the $4.50 in bus fare per day. I could've driven this morning, but at the last minute I changed my mind and caught the bus. I am SO glad I did! It was really rough right after school. It is freaking freezing outside, but I can enjoy my night because I get to sleep in tomorrow. Huzzah!

I haven't written about this much on here, but I've been working on losing weight since September. Mostly I haven't written about it because this is supposed to be a positivity blog, and MOST of a weight loss journey doesn't exactly feel positive... Anyway! It's very slow going because I don't really have a TON to lose, and I'm not very tall, so it takes a long time to get any weight off. So from September to November I took off about 7 pounds. It was a huge victory though! That's a lot on this 5'5" girl. Buuuut I've just been maintaining this loss since Thanksgiving. So I need to get back on track to get to my next mini-goal, which is only 5 pounds away! I've always had to work on my weight. I also feel like there always comes a point when I get tired of working on it, and I start to sabotage myself. And then I gain it all back, and the cycle begins again. I refuse to do that this time, but I still feel myself leaning that way. Because ...

I've been really into purple lately. The color just makes me so happy! I have been on the lookout for a purple purse, and today I found one on clearance at Target! I adore Target. I got my last purse there (a green one!) so I'm happy to have another one.

I have new goals for 2011! But before we get into those, why don't we talk about how I did on my goals for last year? We must be accountable! Here are my goals from last year, copied from my old blog I was using at the time. 2010 Goals 1. Read 40+ books this year 2. Finish my Masters degree 3. Make it to my goal weight (finally!) 4. Earn at least $20 a month from kgb 5. Be positive every day 1. I read 43 books in 2010! Huzzah! 2. I finished my Masters degree with a 3.912 GPA. Done. 3. I'm happy to report that I DID make it to my first goal weight. Buuut I have another goal weight lined up. But I am smaller now than I have been in a long time! 4. Yeeeeah I stopped working for kgb after the Super Bowl snafu. I never could find shifts after that because they hired so many new people. I also hated answering the UK questions. I know I lived there for a semester, but seriously, they do speak another language. Especially when texting. 5. Positivity! I don't know if I accomplish...

Honestly... I didn't do a very good job of memorizing my first scripture. It was too long... I got the gist of it though, mainly the first sentence! I had hoped to be more positive by memorizing this scripture, and I think it worked. I did try to fix my thoughts on what is true. Anyway, here is my new scripture! I randomly found this one in Psalms, and I think it's a good one for right now. It's shorter and absolutely to the point. I will see the goodness of the Lord! 13 I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Psalm 27: 13-14 (NIV)

In my first year of teaching, I taught an AP Calculus class. I only had 5 students in the class because it was a really small rural school. Since it was such a small class, I became really close to my students. It also didn't hurt that I'm only five years older than these students. We could relate about a lot of things since we were so close in age, but I was still an authority figure for them. It was a really hard class, but we all worked together to get through it. It was absolutely nuts to have a first year teacher teaching the AP Calculus class, but we made it through! I'm now Facebook friends with all five of my students from that year, but I'm closest to one of them. At the school I taught at, every teacher would "adopt" two seniors to be their senior kids. I had a Senior Son and a Senior Daughter, both in my Calculus class. I still talk to my Senior Daughter, Kyla, pretty regularly. In fact, I've been texting her today! We had to take Kingsley to the vet again today. He was up sick all night (yesterday too). I was afraid he'd eaten something and had a blockage in his digestive system, but the good news is that an x-ray showed no obstructions! Yes, it's pretty pricey to confirm this... but I'm just thankful that Pup will start feeling better. It's awful to see him in pain. Now, it is time for a nap!

It's that time of year to look back, month by month, at the year that has just ended! (Oh and really, I'm just looking at all my old tweets to jog my memory. See, this is why I should blog more consistently.) January All I remember about January was celebrating the new year with my family, and then a ton of basketball practice. Seriously, it's just about all I did. My car started its ghettoness by not getting out of park without jamming a screwdriver in the release slot. Kingsley pinched a nerve in his back and had to be on lots of medicine. We bought our first real couch with my coaching money. February More basketball! My JV girls finally won a game. LOST premiered. I worked for kgb during the Super Bowl and it was a disaster. J took me to NoRTH for Valentine's Day. I got a technical at our last basketball game for yelling at the ref. I took Capstone and destroyed it! Basketball ended along with grad school and I got my life back! March I got new glasses! I fo...

This year as part of my goals (I don't make resolutions, those never work out!), I'm going to memorize 24 scriptures, 2 per month. Each 1st and 15th of the month, I'll do my very best to remember to post here what my new scripture is, and how it went memorizing the last one! So here's my first one. 8 ...
