Today I am thankful for my librarian friends. We're all in a tough place right now with the budget cuts, but I have two really good librarian friends who are so wonderful. We're all supporting each other through this hard time, and we all want good things for each other! Today, my friend N's job, which we thought she was for sure going to lose, was posted for all applicants. That means that she can apply for it! And certainly her principal will have her back, because she's done a great job this year. I'm so thrilled for her opportunity, and I'm hopeful I'll be in the same situation soon. Our other friend L hasn't been so lucky... she's been pushed out of her job and she has to go teach in the classroom for three years before they'll let her back in the library. A tad ridiculous, as she's done such a good job this year. But whatever... Today I met up with N & L for happy hour at Baker St. Pub. It's so awesome how different we all are, ...

This is one of my go-to recipes. We celebrated Easter with Jarrod & Rachel on Sunday, and I made these scones for our brunch to go with the amazing quiche and creme brulee that Rachel made. I love these scones because they are pretty easy to make, and they always turn out fantastic. I know they look a bit like biscuits in the picture, which is why I usually cut them into more of a triangle shape. I was lazy this time and just used a biscuit cutter! This time I made them with dried cherries, but I've also made them with fresh or frozen blueberries, dried cranberries, and fresh raspberries. I'd also like to try them with some dark chocolate chunks in with the fruit. The recipe is available on the Food Network website here !

In lieu of a regular post today, I'd just like to ask anyone reading this to pray. I have a tech guy at work who takes care of all the hardware and network issues for our computers at work. He is probably in his late 60s. He had a heart attack yesterday and is now in the hospital. His name is Jim. Jim is absolutely essential to what I do at work, and he is just the sweetest guy. I've heard that he's doing okay in the hospital, but I just want to surround Jim & his family in prayer. Please pray for healing and that he will get out of the hospital soon and be able to go home. Thank you!!

For this Media Monday, I have to write about Doctor Who. I absolutely adore The Doctor... and the sixth season just premiered this past Saturday! The first four seasons are on Netflix instant watch as well! I highly recommend watching it if you are at all interested in sci-fi. It became my favourite show almost immediately. I am now a giant Doctor Who freak. Love it. Anyway, the show has been on since 1963, but I've just watched the modern reboot that started in 2005. It's fantastic! I've got a video trailer for the first 5 seasons I want to show you, but first I should explain who The Doctor is. Or at least show you. The Doctor, an alien from Galifrey called a Timelord, is a time traveler. The neat thing about The Doctor is that he doesn't die, he regenerates. Which means the show can go on forever, with a different actor playing the Doctor every couple of seasons. The 2005 series picks up with number nine. This is Nine. And this is Ten. Every Friday morning at work, someone brings in treats. Cleverly, we call it Friday treats. It was our turn (my aide and me) last week, so we decided to bring in Easter treats! Originally I was going to make cupcakes and put my cake decorating skills to work. Gotta make that class count for something... but then I realized that by Thursday night, I wouldn't feel like putting in that much effort. And when I saw this recipe on The Alchemist 's blog, I knew I had to try it. I could not resist these! The ones in my picture are not exactly following the recipe... but they still turned out okay. I actually made two different batches with slightly different recipes so that I could use up the whole box of Fruity Pebbles. The original recipe is here ! Enjoy!

Today I am thankful for amazing sweet parents, who sent me a DIY Easter basket. ;) Thank you mom & dad! I totally cried when I opened it. It was a nice pick-me-up today. And mom, I loved the Book Fair stuff. Mine starts next week! I'm also thankful for an encouraging email from our district library coordinator. All the librarians in our district are getting shuffled around (or laid off) and it's a stressful time for everyone. I found out that the librarian at RR got a full time position, but I still didn't know what that means for me. I emailed our library coordinator, with a couple of questions about timing and the likelihood of me having employment next year as a librarian. This is what she wrote: " Now that Cami has accepted the position at Peiffer, I think you have a great shot at the GG/RR pairing or a number of other jobs. ... Stay hopeful~ I believe in you! " There was other stuff in between, but you get the point. My hope is hanging in there! Not...

I know what you're thinking. What the heck is a wuppa? Well, it's one of the many nicknames we have for our dog, Kingsley. We have always called him Pup, which evolved into Puppa, which was then cutesyfied into Puppa Wuppa. He's pretty adorable, and I KNOW people love pictures of cute things on blogs. Hello, Cute Overload ! Kingsley loves to sit with us. On us if possible. And if not on us, then on whatever we have near us. Last night, it was my computer. This dog loves the computer. He REALLY loves to Skype, as many of you know. But last night when I got up when he was snuggled with me it looked like he was using the computer all by himself. Just doing some internet surfing, bud?

I do have a Twitter account... but not all of you read it. You probably wouldn't love all of it, honestly. It's a lot of nerdy, library stuff. and random thoughts. Etc. But on Tuesdays I will pull some of my favourite updates from the last week or so to share with you. Then you don't have to read all the boring ones in between, you can just see the ones I think are clever. ;) I just called our apt office to tell them that our new neighbors are letting their dog use a box on their deck as a bathroom. The guy that answered the phone had a hilarious reaction. "That is wrong! I will take care of this for you, girl." I love our apartments. I made READ posters today with my teachers on them. Omgosh they look so good!! I'm so proud. YES! It's finally confirmed that we're getting an H&M in Denver!! Soooo freaking excited. Every single time I do laundry, I think "Didn't I JUST do this??" Most of you know that my job is a bit up in the air next year... but we got some great news today! The deal is that my job got paired up with another school in our district. So whoever gets to stay will be halftime at two schools, thus making one full time job as a split position(technically... it's totally more work than one person can do). GG (my school) was paired up with another elementary school called RR. The librarian there has seniority, so I had to wait and see if she wanted the split position before I could move forward. I found out this morning that she got a full time job at another school!! So the first hurdle is out of the way! Now we just have to pray that no one gets placed into my split position. I want it to be posted so that I can apply for it and get my job back next year. So praise God! Good news is good. ;)

I've been reading a TON this year. Over on the right sidebar, I have my challenge widget from GoodReads. I'm attempting to read 100 books this year (but that does include picture books and graphic novels). I read a lot of different types of books, but I probably read even more blogs. These worlds have collided with Pioneer Woman 's Black Heels to Tractor Wheels . I am loving this book. Pioneer Woman has a cookbook, homeschools her kids, & lives on a ranch. Oh man. This book is about how she fell in love with Marlboro Man (what she calls her husband). It is laugh out loud funny. It is heartbreaking. It is so easy to identify with that head-over-heels stage of falling in love. I haven't finished it yet, but I've read a good chunk of it from her blog. Enough to recommend this to you! Hi! So my blog is now private. Here's why: I taught my elementary students the importance of Googling yourself. And of course, they immediately Googled ME. And my blog pops up on the first page. So private, it is! But going private also gives me more freedom to really write about my life! I'll know exactly who is reading it (or at least has access to it), thus I can be more honest about things that are going on with us. Most of you that I'm inviting to read don't live near us up here in Colorado, so I hope this is a way that we can stay involved in each other's lives. In the very least, you'll be able to read all my random thoughts here. ;) To try and make this blog a bit more purposeful, and to avoid that "I have nothing to write about..." feeling, I'm going to try to write some themed posts for different days of the week. I've been a bit MIA lately. I even missed my last scripture memory verse. ;( I'm just going to say I'll continue with my last one, John 14:1. I've definitely still been dwelling on it! I have a pretty good reason to be troubled, but I'm not letting it happen. I'm just in a waiting process right now... waiting to find out if the librarian we've been matched up with is going to take another job. Waiting to find out if she's going to take the split. Waiting to hear from other jobs that I've applied for just in case. Waiting to hear if I'm going to get hired for a summer job. Waiting for July so that my parents will come visit me! Waiting for who-knows-when for my sister to come visit. Waiting for next year so Jason can graduate and work full time again. But it's all wonderful. God's timing is perfect, and for once in my life, I am content to wait. Yes, a lot of my life is up in the air. But I have faith that it will be fine. We love our life...

I should've been posting every single day, because I've been on Spring Break this week, and it has been awesome! Here's what I've done: - Cleaned out my closet - Went shopping with Rachel (didn't buy anything) - Took my clothes to Buffalo Exchange (they only took 2 things!) - Finished Season 6 of Bones - Slept in (every day!) - Went to Zumba class at church - Went to have dinner with the youth group - Had waffles with Loren - Went on a walk at Wash Park - Watched the entire first season of Friday Night Lights - Played 10+ hours of Harvest Moon: Animal Parade - Hiked Mount Falcon with Jarrod & Rachel - Ate at SmashBurger & watched Inception - Relaaaaaxed! Spring Break has been fabulous. I feel rested and ready to take on the rest of the school year!
