30 Day Shred - Level 2

Day 11 - I started Level 2 this morning. Holy planks, Batman! Jillian stepped it up with this one. It was my first time doing it, so I was a little lost. I did all the modified exercises today. I am super tired, and my muscles already feel a little shaky, so I'm pretty sure I'm looking forward to being sore tomorrow. Excited to see how this level feels after a few days! Day 12 - Oh man, Level 2 is SO much harder than Level 1. I'm really sore today, especially my butt! I was absolutely drenched in sweat this morning. Gross for my hair. I'm going to stretch a lot more today to make sure I feel better tomorrow. Day 13 - So I forgot to stretch. And today was the hardest work out yet. And I had typed this up earlier and I lost it. ;( It was seriously the hardest one I've done. Aaaaaand I'm sick. Days 14-whatever are getting skipped. I'll start back over when I'm sure that this virus has passed. I have missed my morning workouts! I've skipped 4 day...

Happy graduation Jason!

Image
This past weekend, we celebrated more than just Mother's Day. Jason graduated with his Masters degree from University of Colorado at Denver! I could not be more proud of him and all his hard work and accomplishments. In just over a year, Jason has... finished a 30 hour Masters degree maintained a 4.0 GPA been published in an academic journal found an amazing job in his field been incredibly successful in his new job! This past Saturday we spent the day celebrating Jason with his parents (who were in town for the week) and his brother and Rachel. Of course, we had to start the day with an appropriately nerdy outing. It was fantastic! Then we came home for a couple of hours and I made Jason's favourite dessert for us to enjoy later! (Wish I had a picture of our actual pie, but it's almost all gone at this point!) The night was topped off by dinner at Ondo's, this fantastic Spanish tapas restaurant. Oh man. So good! I love getting to eat so...

Mother's Day

Happy day after Mother's Day! I hope you got to enjoy the day with your mom, or if you can at least talk to her on the phone. I'm writing this the week before Mother's Day, but I plan to Skype with my mom, and my mother-in-law will be in town staying with us! I really wanted to make something for my mom and mother-in-law this year. I can only make so many random things for myself, so I love getting to make things for my family! Sorry family, expect homemade things for Christmas and birthdays this year... I'm having way too much fun to stop! My Mother-in-law Karen has a Kindle Keyboard and a Kindle Fire. Conveniently, both devices have almost the same dimensions. Sweet! So I made her a soft case for whichever one she chooses. Jason went to the fabric store with me and helped pick out the fabric. He specifically wanted something purple. We picked the outside fabric first, then had a bit of trouble finding a coordinating fabric for the lining. When Jason saw this...

30 Day Shred - Level 1

Day 2 - Pretty sore when I woke up this morning, but I got up early to work out! It was easier to do today. I think maybe because I just drank water before I started instead of eating something. I could do 10 pushups for each set today. I still didn't use any weights, but I think I may get some out for day 3 or 4. I feel less sore after finishing it than when I got up! Day 3 - Definitely still really sore, but it isn't as bad as I imagined it would be before I started. I did 12 pushups in each set today! I added my Leslie Sansone water weights, which are really light but still better than nothing. Yesterday, I was absolutely wired all day after working out in the morning. I am hopeful that this will be a positive change for my energy level! Day 4 - The soreness is starting to lessen. Maybe part of it was walking a couple of miles last night. I think that loosened me up. Today was still hard, but I was trying to push myself a little harder than I had been. I didn't ea...

Sunday Night Puppy Picture

We were taking a picture for Jason's last grad school assignment (!!!) and I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures of Kingsley. He is definitely my favourite subject! I hope to learn a lot more about photography this summer so I can improve. Just having a DSLR makes my pictures way better than my old point and shoot, but I'd love to be able to take pretty pictures on purpose!

30 Day Shred - Day 1

Image
Okay, let's try this again. I just did Jillian Michaels's 30 Day Shred Level 1 workout. I bought this DVD about... okay, FOUR years ago. And I've never made it past day 1 because you get ridiculously sore and Jillian makes you hate her. But I'm tired of feeling weak even though I'm doing okay with cardio, and I want something to kick start some strength training and toning for me! So I'm putting this out here, to help motivate myself when I wake up tomorrow in extreme pain. I weighed myself and took all my measurements today. Noooo I am for sure not posting my starting measurements on here, though I will say I'm right at the lowest weight I've been as an adult, and my waist measurement has gone down .75 inches just from eating differently the last month. Booyah booyah. I WILL post any changes like losing weight or losing inches. Maybe if I get down to that ultimate goal weight I've been trying to hit for several years, I'll tell you what ...

Adorable Mailman Update

Image
The mailman came by yesterday when Kingsley and I were sitting out on the bench in front of our house. Kingsley was trying to be all big and barked at him when he was approaching, but he calmed down when he came to our house. And the sweet mailmain pulled out a milkbone and gave it to Kingsley! It was the sweetest thing! I just love our little neighborhood. And so this post has a picture, sometimes when Kingsley lays on the couch, he snuggles up to whatever is on the couch with him. Recently, he snuggled up with my fabric cutting ruler and camera bag.
