So I've been doing well with my personal goal of making 1 new thing each month. I think it's going to get even easier, because earlier this month Amazon was having a great sale and I got this: I had been using a sewing machine that I got from my cousin, but I dropped it right when I got it and it messed up the bobbin. Jason figured out how to fix it, but it would break periodically, usually in the middle of sewing. So I bought this beauty! It's a Brother CS6000i computerized sewing machine. It's the same one I learned on when I took classes at Fabric Bliss, so it's super easy for me to use right away. Over Spring Break, I've been working on my first project on this machine, and my project for March! I decided that I needed a Euro style pillow for our bed. But I wanted it to have texture. So I got on Pinterest and found some tutorials for a ruffle pillow cover. I read a bunch of them and used a hodgepodge of what I learned from them to make my own. I hav...

I had a bad day at work the other day. It was incredibly stressful and I just felt frozen because I had so much to do. I made it through thanks to my sweet hubby encouraging me to take a walk to clear my head, but he wasn't finished helping me out. He came home with dinner, blue bell ice cream, and a bouquet of flowers! Best husband ever.

Seven years ago today, God saved my life. He kept me safe when my body couldn't heal itself. He put angels in my path when I got to the hospital. He gave me an amazing family who helped me down a long and challenging recovery process that took several months. He gave me friends that found the humor in all the horrible side effects of the drugs that made me better. He helped me out of a destructive relationship and started preparing me for my husband. He strengthened me at my very weakest. He made me realize (again) my complete and utter dependence on Him. He rescued, redeemed, and renewed me, body and spirit. I am so thankful. For seven extra years of life and that He chose to give them to me. I've been on a temporary contract at work for the last two years. But! The union just renegotiated the hiring process, and a lot of the temporary jobs are going to become permanent/continuing. What this means is that I have to reapply for my job. Again. But this should be the last time for this job! My job posted on Friday. The application is due a week from today. Then I will interview and know the results by Spring Break! (Which starts on March 23 here.) I feel super confident that there is no one better for this job than me. I appreciate your prayers that anxiety will stay away and that I can focus on the peace and faithfulness of God.

We have some fantastic friends, both here and far away. It is especially wonderful when we get to see our friends from far away! Kyle and Elizabeth came to visit last weekend! They drove up on Thursday and stayed until Monday. We had three full days together and it was so much fun. I'm going to do a run down of what we did (to help me remember later!) and add a few pictures for you to enjoy! Friday: Breakfast at French Press, everyone freaked out over the bennies, drive to downtown, park on 16th st, walk walk walk, H&M!!!, shopping for dresses, futile belt search, Tattered Cover, walking back, back to the house, nap time, out for dinner, sushi appetizer, Baker St. for dinner, back to the house to watch Sherlock! Saturday: Breakfast at home, drive to get DayQuil and sleds, drive up to Evergreen and wow them with the view (you're not getting a pic, because I love to take people up there!), go ice skating on Evergreen Lake for 20 minutes because it was 50 degrees, skated...

I was a little weird in high school. Shocking, right? Not like we weren't all weird in high school... Anyway, I was also single for most of high school, so I wasn't the biggest fan of Valentine's Day. So I decided that I would celebrate holidays two months later than you were supposed to. I celebrated Christmas on Valentine's Day at school. I would go around school wearing red and green the whole week, including my Christmas Converse, and would hand out candy and say "Happy Christmas!" because I couldn't just say Merry Christmas like a normal person. I would also make a mix CD of what I was listening to at the time and give it out as a Christmas present. I did this for 4 or 5 years, and I only have a copy anymore of the last one I did in 2006. I love listening to it because it's a perfect snapshot of my life at the time. So I decided that I needed to do it again! I've loved writing for a long time. I've been blogging for 10+ years, but since this is a semi-public way of journaling, I wanted to start something that was just for me. I've never been a "record your day" kind of writer on paper, since it just takes too dang long. I saw a similar journal on someone else's blog, and I knew it would be right for me. This journal has a question at the top of each page, then it has five spaces to write your answer, one for each year. You're supposed to write in it for five years. I have been writing in it every night since the start of the new year, and I love it! You can only fit a sentence or two for each day, so it's a perfect right-before-bed journal. I'm excited to see how my answers will change each year. It's been pretty easy to stick to writing in it this month, so I hope I can keep up with it!
