Hi! Yes, we're alive! Since we finished painting our new place, we've moved into it. We also finally got our old apartment cleaned out yesterday. Hallelujah, it feels great to be done with that! Now I feel like I can focus on our new home. We are so excited about our new townhouse because it's the first place that we've felt like we can really make our own. Yes, we're still renting, but since Jason's parents own the townhouse, we can do more than we would in an apartment and we are (tentatively) planning on staying here more long term, as long as our jobs are still within a reasonable distance. We LOVE the area, and of course, so does Kingsley. He loves staring out the front door all day and going on walks in the park that is less than a block down the street. Kingsley looking out the door. This past week was fantastic. My fabulous parents came to visit for an entire week! Their timing was absolutely perfect, since we just got the keys to our new townhouse. They helped us paint almost every room in the house. And by almost, I mean all but ONE. And I'm going back over there today to finish the last one. Even though we worked all week, it was such a joy and blessing just to be around my parents. It's hard living far away, but it means we treasure our time together even more. It was such a blast to get to make our townhouse into a home with their help. And we got to listen to music and dance around the whole time. And of course, we had fun in the evenings when it got too dark to work anymore (no overhead lighting in the new place!). Dad was an excellent ceiling painter. And Mom was the roller queen for the walls! On Friday we took a day off from working on the townhouse to just spend the day together and have fun. I'm a terrible blogger. I think it's my addiction to Twitter and Facebook. I've already said everything there is to say! We went hiking on Wednesday up in Evergreen with our lovely favourite Denver friends, James & Loren. Yes, they're our friends from college, but they finally moved up here! We are so thrilled to have them here. It's like no time has passed at all since we last got to spend tons of time with them. Except we finally all have jobs, and we no longer live in Texas. Anyway, we went up to hike in Evergreen because it was close to 100 degrees in Denver. What?! I thought I moved out of Texas to get away from the heat! It was about 10-15 degrees cooler in Evergreen, so we were there. We hiked about 4 miles in the Alderfer/Three Sisters Park, and it was gorgeous. I'm so glad we went.

I took my first sewing class today. Please pardon the ridiculous pun used for the title of this post. I had so much fun! I learned SO much today, and I'm so happy that I got to take this class. It was a three hour class and we made a tote bag! We learned all about the sewing machine, so I'm hopeful that I will be able to learn how to use MY sewing machine too. It seems like it may be a bit of a pricey hobby, but I really enjoyed it today. I'm hoping when we move into our new place I can set up a little crafty type of station with my desk in the living room. Here is what I made today!

I have been obsessing over paint swatches, accessory colors, fabric, curtains, and anything else you could think about for a new home, because we will be moving to a new place in a month or two! We are so thrilled and excited to be moving into a townhome that Jason's parents bought to be an investment property. For the first year+ Jason and I will live in it. Which means we get to help fix it up! We've never had a place to really make our own before, so this is super fun. We will definitely post some pictures on here to update how we're settling in, but for now, here are a few pictures from the listing to get you started! There are three bedrooms that are all in major need of some help, but I will try to take some before pictures so that we'll know how far it came! This morning, Jason and I had a little morning date! We got up early at went to Starbucks to use one of the giftcards my students gave me. (Sidenote: I NEVER got presents as a high school teachers. I don't even have my own class now, and I got 3 gifts this year. Awesome.) Then we drove up to the Flatirons Mall to see a movie! We saw X-Men First Class, and it was fantastic. I highly recommend it, even if you aren't a giant nerd like me. It was a really fun action movie. While we were waiting for the movie to start, we stopped into Crate & Barrel, one of our favourite home stores. Of course, we found a million things that we loved and had to have for our house... but we only bought one thing. Well, one set of things. Oh my word, is this not the cutest little dog bowl ever? If you don't already know, I love Texas hair . The bigger the better. Jason just thinks it's funny, but whatever! I am blessed with a ridiculous amount of naturally blond hair, so I figure I should just embrace it. My dear friend Celina posted the following video on Facebook last week with a link to a tutorial for no-heat vintage curls. Well, I had to try it. One of the worst things is when it's hot outside and you have to curl your hair. Especially with hot rollers. Ugh. So like she mentioned when she posted it, this would be a great option for summer months when it's just torture to flat iron, curl, or roll your hair. So I tried it last night. Oh man. I'm obviously not as good at it as her, so my curls weren't even and didn't continue all the way around the back. But it totally worked! And when she says vintage curls, she means it. Jason called me Farrah all morning at church. I kinda love it. What do you think?
