highway to the danger zone

I could just have a blog of NPH gifs from HIMYM and I'd be happy. ps: I've already lost 4 pounds with eating right and walking at least 10,000 steps a day for about 3 weeks. Booyah! So also:

Puppies and a catchy song? Oh, I'm there.

10,000+ a day! and Book Fair!

Success! I managed to meet my goal this work week of walking 10,000+ steps every day. On three days, I walked over 13,000 steps. Whoa! Makes me feel awesome. In other news, I started planning my first Book Fair. I am so out of my element doing this, but I think it'll be fun. It starts on October 1. The hardest part for me has been figuring out the schedule. Scheduling the classes first, and then next week I have to tackle scheduling volunteers, which is something I have never done before. Well, okay, everything about this job is something I've never done before, but this is just weird for me. It's such great experience in management. Also a strange dynamic. It's odd to me to be telling people what to do, especially because I'm so much younger than them. I'm super thankful for this job, because I love it, but also because it is pushing me and challenging me professionally like nothing ever has before.

Joan Holloway

Image
Can we please talk about how tiny this girl's waist is? You may know that I'm a big fan of the show Mad Men. You may also know that I'm a somewhat curvy girl myself, though nothing like Christina Hendricks, who plays Joan (Holloway) Harris on Mad Men. I mean really. Look at those gorgeous curves and that impossibly tiny waist! If I could pick any perfect body (to me), this would be it. She is all woman. And she looks so healthy! And by healthy, I mean that she looks like she actually eats. Ah. I aspire to have curves like that. Womanly and soft, but still healthy and toned. Gorgeous!

Pedometer Challenge!

Image
I'm participating in a pedometer challenge at work! It was supposed to start today, but they pushed it off to start next week. Nevertheless, I started counting my steps today. My goal for each day is 10,000 steps. That ends up being over 4 miles! Today was my first day to count my steps and I did 13,456 steps as of 8 o'clock tonight. Whoa! It's just about 5 miles for the day. What's nice is that you get to include all the running around you do at work! The program ends 12 weeks from now, so I'm hoping to walk at least 200 miles over the course of the program. Wish me luck!

New skirt!

I bought a new pencil skirt today for work. It is adorable! I had a little "Back to School" money from my Mom left (Thanks Mom!) so I wanted to get a tasteful skirt that I could wear to work. I tend to buy clothes and keep them for years, so I decided to invest a little more money in this skirt since I keep things for so long. It was $70 full price, but they were having a 30% off full price items sale for today only! It ended up being $48. I think that's a pretty good deal for a skirt that I can wear in three seasons! It's light grey, so it will be perfect for fall. Then with tights under it, it will transition nicely into winter. And with a fun flowy floral top (maybe with a skinny belt, Katelyn? Eh?) it will work for Spring! I have this really bad habit where I buy new clothes and forget to wear them. (I'm sorry, blue sailor-ish pants that I bought at Christmas 2009 and white skirt that I bought in Ireland in January 2006. Seriously, sorry.) So I'm going to ...

Murphy's Law

I had a Murphy's Law day today. Yanno, everything that can go wrong, will? I was at a training all day, but didn't get a sub for work. Then my library aide called in sick. This means there's no one in the library! Then I get a call from work. Then a text, asking what the password for circulation is because they can't login. I call them back and give it to them, and 15 minutes later, the online system kicks me out and says my password is wrong. Awesome, so the password I just gave them no longer works. Go home on lunch break from the training to heat up some lunch at home and relax. Aaaaand the power is out. I took the dog out, then got back in the car to go to Wendy's real quick. Aaaand the power is out at Wendy's. And the stop light is out, but not even blinking. So I drove a few minutes away to Sonic, since they're far enough away that their power is probably fine. Yup! The power was on, but they got my order wrong. In the middle of this, I called my dad t...
