A Weekend in San Francisco

I know, I know. I still haven't posted about the holidays or anything. Whatever. Facebook makes things so easy, I just post it over there. But I know someday when Facebook isn't a thing anymore, I will be glad I did this so I can keep it!

Jason and I have not taken a vacation for just the two of us (so, not going to visit family or friends) since our honeymoon in August 2007. Yes, it was a bit overdue!

We spent the last week in San Francisco and Sonoma Valley, and we had so much fun. It was incredibly relaxing and just nice to spend that much time together.

We flew into San Francisco on Saturday evening. Right into the St. Patrick's Day celebrations! Yikes, didn't think about that with the timing of our trip. It was pretty insane that evening, so we walked to a French bistro just a couple of blocks from our hotel and got some great food there.

The next day, Sunday, we spent exploring the city on foot. First we walked over to the Ferry Building Marketplace. Such a cool area right on the bay!

This giant line is Blue Bottle Coffee Co, where we got some morning coffee for Jason (he said it was amazing) and I got some super dark hot chocolate. Yum!

It's hard to see the name, but this is the Cowgirl Creamery Side Kick. We grabbed some quick breakfast sandwiches here before we walked along the bay.

Gorgeous view of the water and Azkaban (okay, Alcatraz) out in the distance.

We walked all the way up to Fisherman's Wharf and Ghirardelli Square, and it was all very touristy! Nothing wrong with that, just not exactly what we were hoping for at that point of the day haha.

We finished off our walk all the way around town by checking out North Beach and Chinatown on our way back toward Union Square. In Union Square we found an awesome little ramen place to grab some lunch.

See how happy he is to get ramen? He's also happy because at this point we had walked 7+ miles and had only had those breakfast sandwiches... this was about 2 pm.

After walking that much, we went back to our hotel to rest before our dinner reservation. The highlight of our time in San Francisco, I think!

This is The Abbot's Cellar. (Photos from here, not mine, thanks!) We actually sat at the table on the far right of the second picture. So nice, right under a display of a bunch of stout beers, which is Jason's favourite kind of beer. The meal was amazing, and our waiter was super nice.

We finished off the evening by picking up some brownies for dessert from Dandelion Chocolate and then went to Bourbon & Branch for cocktails. It was an action packed day!

On Monday morning, we ventured across the Golden Gate Bridge and had lunch at Sushi Ran in Sausalito. It was kinda a weird morning getting there, but we were so excited to get out of the city and continue our trip in wine country.

Me with the bridge!

This is starting to get pretty long, so I think I'll write about our time in wine country in another post. Enjoy!
