2012 Recap
Here's a month by month recap of our year!
January
We started the year housesitting at our friends house. I made cookies to leave for them! They found the guy that hit us in a hit & run, and we got our $500 back from the deductible. Jason found out his first article was getting published! We recycled 3 of our Macs and bought this one iMac. We totally bought a bar, but it was a giant hassle to get it here. I pulled a muscle in my back moving it in. I read The Fault In Our Stars and it was amazing. I started writing in my Question a Day journal.
February
We started the month with a snow day! I made the curtains for our back sliding glass door and marathoned Revenge. We found out Brad & Hannah were moving to Denver! Teacher librarians got taken off the cut list and were safe for one more year. I did my GG Book Fair. I made my first Happy Christmas mix in years. Kyle & Liz came to visit!
March
I bought a Brother sewing machine. I interviewed for my own job for the 3rd time and got rehired again, this time on a continuing contract. I learned how to make ruffles and made this ruffle pillow. We went to Breckenridge for the weekend during Spring Break, thanks to Sharon!
April
We went to the symphony to hear music from The Legend of Zelda. I got a Whole Foods fundraiser for my school and took some kids to pass out bags to shoppers. I took a zippered clutch class at Fabric Bliss, and then I made a padded case for my Kindle! I started the 30 Day Shred. Glenda and I got chocolate pedicures. I started working out in the morning before work, and it improved my energy so much!
May
Glenn & Karen came to town for a conference. I did 20 days of the 30 Day Shred and lost 5 inches. I made Mother's Day presents for both of our moms. Jason graduated with his Masters degree! I started editing for his job. I hosted a Texas themed girls night with barbecue and blue bell. I finished a Calculus grad class. I bought my first pair of shorts in years! And I made deviled eggs for the first time.
June
I wrapped up the year at both schools! I celebrated the first day of summer by going swimming with my friend Mala. I started using MFP consistently. We got a new oven and stove. I started making homemade granola bars. I took an intro to quilting class and made a tiny little quilt. We helped James & Loren move into their new house! I almost passed out getting my blood taken, which hadn't happened in 6 years. Awesome. I made my first quilt top for Kingsley!
July
My family came to visit for the first week! We had a great time running around and being silly. I flew back with them and led a group at Kadesh with my dad. Jason went to his first work conference in New Orleans while I was gone. Our friends Drew and Jared came to visit when we both got back. I started the process of getting contacts.
August
Jason and I went on a weekend trip to Colorado Springs to celebrate our 5 year anniversary! I started the 30 Day Shred again. I finally finished Kingsley's quilt. I went back to work. I got my compression shorts, which I love working out in so much! I had to buy new pants because I toned up from working out over the summer. The smallest size since middle school!
September
We started getting our milk from Royal Crest! So yummy. I started making pizza from scratch at home. Glenn and Karen came to visit again for labor day. I had jury duty but I didn't end up having to go. I finished the 30 Day Shred. Jason went to ACU Summit with my dad, and I made a dress while he was gone! I worked worked worked.
October
I made it through my busiest week of the year at work, with my big Book Fair and parent conferences. I had my first book review committee meeting. We rearranged our living room and absolutely loved it. I applied for a new job and got called back for a phone interview! I dressed up as Lavender Brown for Halloween! Jason celebrated a year at his new job.
November
The election FINALLY happened, and our bond and mill levy passed for my school district. I started Jason's quilt top. We saw Jackson Browne in concert! Jason's parents came to town for Thanksgiving. I did my phone interview for the job and got asked to come in for a face to face interview. Jason got invited to speak at a conference next year!
December
I had my face to face interview, and a week later I found out that I got the job! We celebrated my birthday early with brunch and The Hobbit. I wrapped up my semester at both jobs and had to tell everyone that I'm leaving in January. Jason found out that he had another article approved to be published. We went to my parents house in Texas for Christmas. We listened to the BEST audio book during our drive, Ready Player One. We both came home from Texas with colds, so we've been resting and relaxing for the last few days. We celebrated the New Year by staying home with homemade pizza and Castle Ravenloft, a new board game Jason got. We paid off our ACU loans in FULL with our December paychecks.
It was a lovely year, and we look forward to all the new adventures that 2013 will bring!
