Good morning!
A week ago, we got new windows upstairs. Yay! Thanks Glenn! The windows appeared to be original to the house, and our townhouse was built in the early 70s. Yikes. The insulation was okay, but you could hear every word of people talking outside our house. And since we live right next to the park, people walk by in front of our house at all hours, usually chatting. And it sounded like they were in our house talking. Totally weird. But now we have new windows, and I don't have to hear people!
So when we got new windows, they took down all the blinds, and our house was all bright and cheery from the sun! I took a few pictures around the house of some details and in progress projects. I thought you might enjoy them!
I hope you enjoyed a mini tour of our place! It's been a long time coming to get more pictures on here, and I'm happy I finally thought about doing it.

This is our bedroom, with new sheets and duvet! We keep trying to buy comforters, but I get too dang hot when I sleep, so we can't use them. We finally decided to just give up and found this duvet for only $28 at our favorite store! The plum sheets came from Target, and I think they are super fancy. The art on the left also came from Target. The shelf on the right has a ceramic owl (from West Elm) and a tiny little ceramic bird (from a little store in Fort Collins). Yes, our room looks a little messy. Would you expect anything else from me? At least I made the bed! The walls are a soft grey color, which is kinda hard to tell, but easier if you look at the trim or the ceiling since they are bright white. I wanted a darker color, but since this is a rental, we decided to keep it more neutral.
Sweet little Kingsley snuggled on our bed! This is absolutely his favourite place to be. I think he looks extra regal with the purple behind him.
This is your room if you come visit us! I promise it won't look like this when you come... We'll definitely put the blinds back up. But doesn't that new window look nice? The blue and white comforter is going in here. We tried it on our bed, but it didn't work. The headboard I got for $5 on Craigslist. I'm still considering painting it. And I think maybe I need a bedskirt or something in here now that I look at it. The walls in here are the same color as our bedroom. I didn't want to decide, so we painted all the bedrooms the same shade.
This was our office last weekend before we started working on it. Yuck! We moved that white bookshelf from the other side of the room, and once we put all the books back on it we realized that it was about to fall over. Goodbye bookshelf. ;( I had that shelf in my room when I was growing up, so I guess we got plenty of good use out of it! We actually put it out in our storage shed. This looks like a complete disaster, but it's looking a lot better now! I'll take some more pictures once we get the clutter cleaned up.
This is at the top of our stairs. Our travel wall! It has pictures of all the places we've been together. We are hoping to add a new one this summer for our 5 year anniversary! The water heater is in that closet on the right and it looks super dingy. Gross. It really needs to be painted, but once we painted everything else we were so tired of painting that we didn't do it. Someday!
Detail shot downstairs! This is a wine rack from IKEA (that I found for half off at a thrift store when we lived in Abilene) with magazines in it. We keep our magazines in there and it looks super cute! I love how the colors change when we get new issues. And these are the curtains that I made! I am so very proud of them. The fabric is also from IKEA, and I lined them to make them a little thicker. We don't usually close them, but they can if you need them to. The walls downstairs are a really light beige neutral. I think it's called Swiss Coffee. It's hard to tell the color without the ceiling or the trim, but it looks nice and warm in here. We did the whole downstairs the same color.
This is our new desk area downstairs! Pardon the grainy photo, I took this one on my cell phone. The rest were with my DSLR. This computer is actually gone now, so I'm at this desk right now on my work laptop. I am already loving that the computer desk is downstairs. It is so much more convenient than having it upstairs in the office. We're just using a kitchen table chair for the desk, since it doesn't take up too much room and we rarely sit at our table anyway. I am thinking of recovering the kitchen chair seats as well.
