Quarterly update

Just kidding, I post more than quarterly... Right?

I keep thinking I'll post pictures of our new place when I finally get the curtains made. It is taking quite a while for the fabric to get here though. I had a friend pick it up for me at the Dallas IKEA because I couldn't get it here. She's supposed to have sent it, so maybe it'll get here soon. I do have a sewing machine at home, but I don't have all the supplies needed for a big sewing project. That stuff is expensive! I've been saving up for something else, so I don't have the extra money for scissors, thread, cutting mats, rotary cutters, pins, etc. right now. So I've decided to rent a couple of hours of sewing machine time at the store where I took my first sewing class. They let you use all the supplies and thread you need! You just bring your fabric. So this will tide my over while I save up for what I really want. And then I'll be able to take pretty pictures of our new place.

Because here is what I'm saving up for:
Isn't it lovely? It's a Nikon D3100, which is a Digital SLR. I'm finally going to buy myself a camera that's not just a point and shoot. I took a photography class in high school, and I loved getting to take pictures with my dad's SLR. I loved being able to control all the different thing like aperture and shutter speed. It took the best photos I've ever taken. My little point and shoot camera is pretty well past its time, so I decided rather than dropping a couple hundred bucks on a camera that is more of the same, I'd go for it and save up for what I really want. I'm hoping to have enough money by Christmas time to get it. I'm about a third of the way there now (for just the camera... I'll have to get a bit more for anything else to go with it). I'm excited about all the pretty pictures I'll be able to take once I get it! And for a DSLR, it's pretty small, so I'll be able to take it places. Here's hoping it will help me blog more when I can post pictures that aren't horrendous! Jason's cell phone takes better pictures than my camera.

If it is possible to lust over inanimate objects, I'm doing so. Tell me how you like it because my point and shoot that I got for studying abroad 5 years ago is about to bite the dust. Love you and miss you.
