At least I got to watch the Royal Wedding...
Well, Jason and I had an eventful Friday. On Thursday night, right when we were watching our favourite Thursday show, Community (if you don't watch it, you need to get your life right. first season is out on DVD, no excuses!), and I got a really bad pain in my side. I thought it would probably go away, that I was just having a bad stomachache, buuuut it didn't. I went to bed still in pain, and I woke up at 3 am still in pain and unable to sleep.
Since it was 3 am and I was already up, I figured I'd stay up and watch the royal wedding. Yup, I got to watch it live! It was nice. Until it got boring around 4:30, so I went back to bed. I woke up a couple of hours later still hurting, so I called in to work and got a doctor's appointment.
The doctor ran a bunch of tests, but couldn't find anything out of the ordinary besides my pain. I had a couple of the signs of appendicitis or gall bladder problems (and the pain was in the right place) so she didn't want to send me home. She sent me on to the emergency room for moooore tests. They did more blood work, an ultrasound of my right side, and a CT scan. We were at the hospital for about 3.5 hours, and they finally saw what was causing my pain: inflammation in my colon. Uh, okay. I didn't have an infection (no fever, and white count was normal), so the ER doctor decided it must have been a virus that caused it. He sent me home with painkillers and instructions to rest and drink lots of fluids.
So here I am two days later! The pain was completely gone when I woke up this morning. I've just been resting and relaxing since we came home. Jason has been so sweet taking care of me this whole time. I'm feeling much better, and I'm SO thankful it didn't end up being appendicitis or my gall bladder. I'm so thankful I didn't have to have surgery! And this was a much better experience than the last time I was in the hospital. Praise God it was nothing like that!
