2010 Recap
It's that time of year to look back, month by month, at the year that has just ended! (Oh and really, I'm just looking at all my old tweets to jog my memory. See, this is why I should blog more consistently.)
January
All I remember about January was celebrating the new year with my family, and then a ton of basketball practice. Seriously, it's just about all I did. My car started its ghettoness by not getting out of park without jamming a screwdriver in the release slot. Kingsley pinched a nerve in his back and had to be on lots of medicine. We bought our first real couch with my coaching money.
February
More basketball! My JV girls finally won a game. LOST premiered. I worked for kgb during the Super Bowl and it was a disaster. J took me to NoRTH for Valentine's Day. I got a technical at our last basketball game for yelling at the ref. I took Capstone and destroyed it! Basketball ended along with grad school and I got my life back!
March
I got new glasses! I found a new eyebrow girl (you know this is important). I started bribing my students to do work by showing them SNL digital shorts. I did our extremely confusing taxes with our friend Kyle's help. Barrett & Celina came to visit us for their Spring Break! We had 2 snow days. I celebrated 5 extra years of life!
April
J's truck had a bunch of work that it needed done... so we bought a new car! J got us an amazing deal, and it stressed me out. We finally had Spring Break! I had my yearly review at CCHS. I went to meet John Green and David Levithan on their Will Grayson, Will Grayson book tour (it was awesome). Kingsley was sick yet again. I chaperoned the prom.
May
I graduated from grad school with my MLS! I sent in job applications like crazy. The screensaver came on my SmartBoard and it surprised me so much that I screamed in front of my class. So loud that my next door neighbor Tiff came to check on me. We played kickball on the last day of school, and I got a wicked sunburn. I started watching HIMYM. Kingsley ate a bunch of chocolate cake out of the trash and we got to rush him to the vet, then watch him for 48 hours and force charcoal down his throat! Yay! And the best part... I interviewed for my first school library job, and I got it!!
June
I resigned from my old job and cleaned up all my old math stuff. We went to Texas for two weeks. My best friend from high school, Lauren, got married and I was a bridesmaid! I spent time with friends and my grandparents in Abilene. I spent quite a bit of time with my grandmother Tutu, the day before she passed away. It was precious time, and we feel so fortunate that we were there to see her before she died and be with my family for the funeral. The night we got home from Texas, we caught someone trying to steal our neighbor's car. I went hiking with old coworkers from CCHS.
July
I started really getting ready for my new job. J's parents came to visit us for the 4th of July weekend. We won a 42 inch Plasma TV and a BluRay player from our apartment complex. I took a cake decorating class with my SIL R and our friend K. We finally switched Kingsley's food to a new natural food (that is essentially gluten free) and he finally started feeling better! We celebrated J's 25th birthday, and I made a Key Lime Pie! I read books and played a lot of Lego Harry Potter. I watched I Love You, Man and freaking fell in love with it.
August
I started my new job as a librarian! I decorated the library with a jungle theme. J gave me a KitchenAid stand mixer for our 3 year wedding anniversary. I did lots of library and computer orientations. And I flew to Abilene for 36 hours to see my sister in a play: I Do, I Do. I saw a real double rainbow! My principal, my coach, and I got the giggles during our presentations for back to school night. It was awesome.
September
I changed all the font on all my library stuff from Comic Sans to Arial or Century Gothic. We started watching Dexter. I started a pedometer challenge at work and walked 10,000 steps every day. I became a Smart Power User at work, or a SPUG. I worked a LOT.
October
I survived my first Book Fair and we sold $5400 of books! We had parent conferences and my aide was out for a week. I watched a ton of Doctor Who. I carved my first ever pumpkin and made it look like Harry Potter!
November
We went on a youth retreat with our church here. We got Netflix! I tried Zumba for the first time. I also finally got under 155 pounds! (My first mini goal weight.) I took my first sick day for mental health. We went to Houston to visit J's parents for Thanksgiving. We had a lovely time! Kingsley stayed with his new BFF Rocky. J got into grad school to start in January!
December
I made cinnamon rolls for Friday treats for my coworkers. I survived an almost complete meltdown at work. I found snot in my hair at work. I got a free massage from a friend who is in massage therapy school. ;) I celebrated my 25th birthday! We went to Texas for a week to spend time with my family, and it was awesome! My parents absolutely spoiled us for Christmas. We came back home and spent the last week of 2010 watching TV and laying around the house.
All in all, it was a pretty fabulous year!
