To be completely honest, today was a bad day at work. Nothing worked out well... My brain is completely fried, and I just felt like an idiot all day.

But this is supposed to be about good things. So here are some good things!
  • Hugs from 1st graders. It still amazes me that the kids at school want to hug me. Sometimes it's weird and unwanted, but other times it is REALLY cute. I've been working with both 1st grade classes on the laptops all week, so the kids are even more "huggy" this week. It really brightens an otherwise frustrating day.
  • Peppermint Hershey kisses. Seriously. Go buy some.
  • Christmas lights in the library. Our speech pathologist gave us some lights to put up in the library, and they make it so great! I love looking at them around the SmartBoard and seeing the kids' faces when they see the twinkling lights.
  • New books. We got a shipment of 73 new books for the library today. It's like Christmas! I bought a bunch of graphic novels because we only have a few, and I'm so excited for the kids to start checking them out.
  • I'm teaching a 6/7 Math accelerated class for some advanced sixth graders. And I LOVE it. I didn't realize how much I missed getting to teach math. It's kinda awesome getting to do both things that I love in the same position.

First Finished Quilt!

I am so proud. After over a month of working on it (off and on), I finally finished my first quilt! For some reason I was having anxiety about quilting and especially binding it, but it ended up being totally fine. I don't know why I was so worried. It turned out great! Mission accomplished... he likes it!

Mother's Day

Happy day after Mother's Day! I hope you got to enjoy the day with your mom, or if you can at least talk to her on the phone. I'm writing this the week before Mother's Day, but I plan to Skype with my mom, and my mother-in-law will be in town staying with us! I really wanted to make something for my mom and mother-in-law this year. I can only make so many random things for myself, so I love getting to make things for my family! Sorry family, expect homemade things for Christmas and birthdays this year... I'm having way too much fun to stop! My Mother-in-law Karen has a Kindle Keyboard and a Kindle Fire. Conveniently, both devices have almost the same dimensions. Sweet! So I made her a soft case for whichever one she chooses. Jason went to the fabric store with me and helped pick out the fabric. He specifically wanted something purple. We picked the outside fabric first, then had a bit of trouble finding a coordinating fabric for the lining. When Jason saw this...
