First week, done!

My first week as a school librarian is complete! It was a good week. I feel like I learned SO much. I did 14 thirty minute library orientations, one for each class in the school. There was a lot of trial & error involved in the orientations... but I feel like by the end of the week I knew what I was doing.

I am also super thankful for my library aide. She's been at the school, mostly working in the library, for 15 years! She is such an asset for me. Another amazing thing about her is that she buys books for the library. How incredible is that?! She buys books that she likes herself, like Rick Riordan's books, then brings her copy and donates it to the library. Yesterday she bought a copy of the most recent Caldecott winner (outstanding picture book) and brought it in. It wasn't even a book that she had read, she just wanted our kids to have it. So precious. Again, I am so thankful for this job.
