I was a little weird in high school. Shocking, right? Not like we weren't all weird in high school... Anyway, I was also single for most of high school, so I wasn't the biggest fan of Valentine's Day. So I decided that I would celebrate holidays two months later than you were supposed to. I celebrated Christmas on Valentine's Day at school. I would go around school wearing red and green the whole week, including my Christmas Converse, and would hand out candy and say "Happy Christmas!" because I couldn't just say Merry Christmas like a normal person. I would also make a mix CD of what I was listening to at the time and give it out as a Christmas present. I did this for 4 or 5 years, and I only have a copy anymore of the last one I did in 2006. I love listening to it because it's a perfect snapshot of my life at the time. So I decided that I needed to do it again! I've loved writing for a long time. I've been blogging for 10+ years, but since this is a semi-public way of journaling, I wanted to start something that was just for me. I've never been a "record your day" kind of writer on paper, since it just takes too dang long. I saw a similar journal on someone else's blog, and I knew it would be right for me. This journal has a question at the top of each page, then it has five spaces to write your answer, one for each year. You're supposed to write in it for five years. I have been writing in it every night since the start of the new year, and I love it! You can only fit a sentence or two for each day, so it's a perfect right-before-bed journal. I'm excited to see how my answers will change each year. It's been pretty easy to stick to writing in it this month, so I hope I can keep up with it!

John Green is one of my favourite authors. He writes books for young adults, but he also has a YouTube channel with his brother Hank. John Green's books are always amazing, but his newest book is his best one yet. Granted, I love everything he's written, but this book blew me away. The Fault In Our Stars is about a sixteen year old girl named Hazel who has cancer. Her life is pretty monotonous, including her attendance at a cancer support group for teens - until she meets Augustus Waters, a teen cancer survivor. She shares her favourite book with him, written by a reclusive author who moved from the states to Amsterdam. It's hard for me to write much more about it as far as a summary, since much of the story needs to be revealed as you read without spoilers to be as meaningful and impactful. This book was amazing. Today we had the most glorious day. We got a snow day!! There are about 20 inches on the ground right now, and it's been snowing all day and all last night. My school district called it last night, and Jason got the text from his work this morning around 6 am. This was our neighborhood this morning. So much snow! And there's way more tonight. Jason and I got to spend the day at home, which was much needed and much appreciated. It has really been crazy for both of us at work lately, so it was amazing to be home. We slept in and just got to enjoy our day. I got to watch my stupid shows on Hulu, and I prepped my other set of curtains so that I can make them tomorrow.  We also played outside in the park for about an hour. It was gorgeous! We walked around on the paths, but some places weren't shoveled, so we made our own way. It was so much fun going on a mini-adventure in our park. Good morning! A week ago, we got new windows upstairs. Yay! Thanks Glenn! The windows appeared to be original to the house, and our townhouse was built in the early 70s. Yikes. The insulation was okay, but you could hear every word of people talking outside our house. And since we live right next to the park, people walk by in front of our house at all hours, usually chatting. And it sounded like they were in our house talking. Totally weird. But now we have new windows, and I don't have to hear people! So when we got new windows, they took down all the blinds, and our house was all bright and cheery from the sun! I took a few pictures around the house of some details and in progress projects. I thought you might enjoy them! This is our bedroom, with new sheets and duvet! We keep trying to buy comforters, but I get too dang hot when I sleep, so we can't use them. We finally decided to just give up and found this duvet for only $28 at our favorite store! As you all know, I am a big television fan. I finally watched Firefly this semester (will write about it another time, it's a much too amazing show for a phone post!) and so of course now I adore Nathan Fillion. We wanted to watch another show that starred him, so we started watching Castle. Oh man. There are a lot of crime shows on TV, but this one is so much better! It's still pretty formulaic, but the acting is just hilarious and I love the characters. The only negative is that it isn't on instant watch! We actually have to wait to get the new disc. It's torture, but the show is worth it. Especially when a Firefly reference shows up.
